Hip-Hop:
Forrest Webb
aka Getemgump started dancing in the early 1980's. He was inspired by his jr. high school friends as well as most of the popular B-boy crews who were pioneering the scene in New York City. Forrest attended high school in Central New York where he often practiced his craft with his crew R.O.C. (Rocker Only Crew) in between classes and after school. Up until college, most of Forrest's extra curricular time was consumed with dancing, martial arts, and boxing.
From 1988 - 1994 Forrest attended college. He studied Radio and Television and earned his A.A. degree. He later earned his B.A. from the State University of New York at Stony Brook and completed his post-graduate work in legal studies at Adelphi University. Coming out of retirement in the early 90's, Forrest found it very inspirational to practice with many of New York City's veteran B-boys such as Float, Ken Swift, Burn-1, Crazy Legs, Mr. Wiggles, and Kid Freeze. Practicing and building with such pioneers helped Forrest further strengthen his dance foundation as well as provide him with invaluable insight into hip-hop history. Forrest later co-founded the B-boy crew Illstyle Rockers with Bobby Blaze, Dre Live, and FX.
By 1999, Forrest started crossing international boundaries when he was invited to perform and/or judge competitions in countries such as Switzerland, Italy, UK, and Germany. Later that year he linked up with Rennie Harris Puremovement and toured with the company domestically and internationally for over 4 years. His theater credits include Rome &Jewels (RHPM), Cool Heat Urban Beat (Boston Dance Umbrella), Hip-Hop Legends (RHPM), Caravane (Urban Tap), Hip-Hop Culture Connection: From NY to Paris (Jr. &Sydney), and Hit the Breaks (FSB Productions). Video Credits include: The Ghetto Has Been Good to Me (YZ), If 6 was 9 (Bootsy Collins), Buffalo Gals (Malcolm Mclaren/Rakim), and 1,2,3¦Rhymes Galore (DJ Tommekk).
Forrest has for many B-boy jams and dance competitions that have taken him as far as Switzerland, Italy, and Australia. He is now affiliated with the First Nature DJ crew from London, England. Forrest considers his life as a B-boy an incredible experience and a divine gift because of the opportunities it has provided for him to travel, perform, learn and teach in diverse cultures.
Besides dancing and DJing, Forrest is an actor, having studied with NY acting coaches Terry Sandler and Jack Poggi. Forrest landed the stage role of "Crooks" in the John Steinbeck classic Of Mice and Men. He has appeared in TV commercials for Fila Germany and Austereo-FM. In 2002 while in Melbourne Australia, Getemgump made his film debut in the Australian film One Perfect Day (Light Stream Films) starring Dan Speilman and LeeAnna Walsman. Forrest has also acted in a series of industrial videos. In the future, look for Forrest in even larger productions as a B-boy, dj, competition judge, and an actor.
